Museu d'Art Modern
This museum shares a wing of the Palau de la Ciutadella with the Catalonian parliament. Constructed in the 1700s, it was once used as an arsenal, forming part of Barcelona's defenses. It later became a royal residence before being turned into a museum early in this century. Its collection of art focuses on the early 20th century and features the work of Catalán artists, including Martí Alsina, Vayreda, Casas, Fortuny, and Rusiñol. The collection also encompasses some 19th-century Romantic and neoclassical works, as well as modernismo furniture (including designs by architect Puig i Cadafalch).
